Original vs. Remake: What Game Has the Best Cover Art? – Defunct Games

What had the better box art: The original or the remake? That’s what we’re about to find out in this episode of Defunct Games Decides, the show that’s all about coming to a conclusive conclusion. I’ll be joined by my buddy and host of The Halcyon Show, Lorne Riseley, and together we’re going to look at six of the best-known remakes from the last 35 years. I’m talking about games like Metroid, Resident Evil, Ratchet & Clank, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid and Yakuza. Every one of these games had radically different box art, and today we’re going to decide if we like the original or remake. All right, folks, let’s do some deciding.

Resident Evil (PlayStation/GameCube) – 3:55
Metroid (NES/Game Boy Advance) – 11:48
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2/PS4) – 18:03
Ratchet & Clank (PS2/PS4) – 23:21
Yakuza (PS2/PS4) – 28:16
Metal Gear Solid (PlayStation/GameCube) – 34:06
